Hi
I've just pulled the old girl out and intend to change the shaft seal. Currently it is a simple rubber flange which fits over the stern tube (tightened with a jubilee clip) and over the shaft, slight pressure fit. This setup does not leak (much) underway but leaks like a sieve when stationary, to the extent that I need to tighten a jubilee clip over the shaft to keep her afloat.
I am looking at fitting a new seal which is called a 'Deep Sea Seal' (DSS). They are expensive but I understand they work well. Does anyone have any experience of them and are they likely to solve my problem?
Regards
