Bernard Cornwell is perhaps one of our best historical/fiction writers, his stories based around actual events and battles, I have particularly enjoyed his WARLORD and ARTHURIAN chronicles and many others.

His longest series is the SHARPE stories set in the Peninsular Wars against Napolionic France and Spain (Spain later became our allies) the General Sir Arthur Wellesly, later to become the Duke of Wellington, out most successful general, some 21 books in all, I like to read them as a change from sea or boaty books, they are real page turners, one is also about Trafalgar, Sharpe was there also.
I have the whole set, starting with SHARPES TIGER, through to SHARPES DEVIL. in chronological order, which is best way i feel to read them.

They are on my book shelf, anyone interested can pass them on for a small fee per book plus postage, or all 21 if someone wants them. I have bought each one new so in excellent condition.
