Shared ownership ?

I am looking for advise on shared ownership abroad, will have approx £60k budget to spend in the spring, is this a good option or not.
Have read several reports but would welcome some first hand information.
One minor problem i may have is that short weekend breaks are easier for me and the better half due to business commitments so not sure 6 or 7 weeks use will work for us.

When you say shared are you talking partnership or more people?

I have a friend who has successfully shared several boats with friends and colleagues, but he is HUGELY organised, they litterally sit down at the beginning of the year and fill in a calendar. That isn't to say they dont swap and change, but they have the dates and thus land laid down before the season starts. This is a very important part of the process to avoid conflict and stress, and cannot be stressed enough.

As business people you are used to organising your lives I would imagine, so your £60k if joined to somebody elses £60k puts you in a newish 34ft powerboat, or 3 people's £60k would put you into a 1 year old 36ft powerboat in the ranges I am used too. The advantates of this are clear, and the appeal strong.

You would have to carefully draw up a calendar of use, and also decide on how to share costs of maintenance, berthing and winterizing.

With this laid down, and the deal done with reliable people you can enjoy a boat normally beyond your means, for a fraction of the cost of a smaller boat you could afford alone, making boating life alot more enjoyable.
