I don't think Wiggo's idea of 'depth tight' is the same as us mere mortals, and would not concern him. I assume Christchurch didn't get dredged Graham?
A bit tight with the tide running and some of the long berths can be "interesting" to get into if you're not on the end, and if you are on the end leave all your fenders out! With a bow thruster I think they're not too bad. I was on the very most upstream berth "outside" for a while last year, but fortunately right on the end, still it was a close run thing on the make which got me first, the pontoon or the mud!
Our boat used to be kept there by her previous owner, and I nearly came to grief getting her out of the berth when I collected her, so I echo what others have said about the tide. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
Good facilities, helpful staff on my (brief) acquaintance, and quite convenient. Somewhat less (!) scenic than Christchurch and a bit of a bugger to get to and from when Saints are playing at home. Security OK on the pontoons, so far as I know, but the car parks etc. are fairly open to visitors, and it's not the most upmarket area of Southampton.
I have my boat moored there, mooring not to bad except at the extremes of tide flow as said earlier, it makes things a bit sporting, the finger pontoons can be a bit springy if you jump on them. Overall I have no complaints, the staff are always very helpful and the facilities are good. The food at the pub is good and reasonably priced.
Football not a problem as I go to the games.
Good luck /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
