Well maybe YBW won't let me do this but I'll do it anyway. I've been trying to get published for a while now and have found the book publishing mafia one of the most reactionary, out of touch industries in the world. However good old Amazon will allow you to put your books up for sale as e-books at no cost - so guess what I've done?? Of course if you do this you also have to do your own marketing so thats what this thread is about. I've got two novels for sale on the Kindle site and before you ask they are both boaty in nature.

The first 'Jacaranda' is based on my recent two years cruising the Caribbean. We learnt so much about the history of the Islands I wanted to write about it from the modern and historical perspectives. So the book combines a story line about Nelsons time with that of a modern day hero who charters his own yacht from St Lucia.

The second book 'Sea Skimmer' is about the Falklands War. I was a Lynx helicopter pilot at the time and we never really got into the history books despite some interesting times. For example I can safely claim to be the only pilot in the world who had deliberately jammed an Exocet in flight to make it home onto my own aircraft (not quite as daft as it sounds).

The links to the two (incredibly reasonably priced books) are below. I would be delighted to get any feedback, good or bad. If you get one now you will be able to tell your kids you bought one the first of what was to become a major blockbuster (I wish). Oh and I have sequels to both in the pipeline.

I've read the sea skimmer book, it's pretty good. For someone who remembers the Falklands war vividly it's a cracking read, and very closely based on facts that most of us didn't know anything about - why didn't ANY of the Exocets actually explode?

there were rumours (I was in the Middle East working for a government at the time) that the fuses had been treated mysteriously to a dose of magnetism from an unauthorised passing visitor.

Thanks for this. Will definitely read Jacaranda as we're hoping to head off that way later this year. Good luck with getting your work noticed.
