If you are changing the shaft seals are you sure you don’t need to sleeve the shaft? Quite straight forward with a speedy seal

The speedi-sleeve does come with an 'installation tool' in the box. Trouble is, it is only open on one end and is not deep enough to push the sleeves on far enough.

To push them on, you will need something like a short (maybe 6inch) length of aluminium tube.

If you check out my post at the link below, I included a screenshot showing exactly what size tube fits!

I don't have the measurements.. another forumite previously posted the shaft diameter.

Perhaps the following helps. This was my order to Bearings R Us back in 2021 for the shaft in my 120S-D leg..

I ordered enough to have two complete spares!!

I think if you take another look at the installation tool that comes with the seal (arrowed in the instructions below) you will realise why it can't install a seal much further along the shaft..

I had no idea this was a thing! I replaced the seals in our very tired leg last year. The VP dealer said max 1mm of groove and we have about 3mm. Still managed to get through the season without a milkshake but I will be looking into this!

I did read about someone who had issues with the sleeve cracking/failing when installed over a very deep groove.

Hard to imagine because the sleeves feel very strong and well made.

Perhaps worth filling a deep groove with an epoxy filler before installing a sleeve over the top to be sure...
