I have a Jeanneau SO 32 from 2003 and would like to replace the cutless bearing this winter as there was quite a lot of wear at the end of last season. The volvo dripless shaft seal has also started to leak and I suspect it is original so it would make sense to do this at the same time.

I have read somewhere that Jeanneau cutless bearings are not standard but I am not 100% if this is the case or if it is an issue.

How difficult is it to do this?

How much would it cost (ball park) if I need to pay a professional - it is the shaft realignment that scares me most.

Thanks

Both easy jobs. Mebbe three or four hours for a pro at whatever the local rate is. Seal and cutlass bearings aren't hundreds either. Try a broker like Sea Ventures with your hull number to get dimensions although any yard you lift out at will source it easily.

Don't worry, even shaft alignment that I've not found necessary after this sort of work is quite simple. I've helped a marine engineer do it after installing a new engine, it's not space shuttle stuff!

Dependent on your DIY capability this is possible for most DIY maintenance people. You will most likely need to disconnect the prop shaft at the engine end and slide it out, with or without the prop attached depending on how it gets past the rudder. Once off you can easily measure up the items then replace them. on some Jeaneau the cutlass bearing is press fitted into the P bracket, the shaft seal will most likely be Jubilee clipped on the stern tube. I did a similar job on our Fulmar 2 winters ago, IIRC both items cost around £150 all up from ASAP supplies.
