Hello.

What diameter shafts and props do you run on your Fairline 36 Turbo - TAMD61a? alternative on Fairline 37 Corsica or similar type

I am repowering a Powles Super 38 and in the need of some inspiration.

Sorry for my poor English :-)

My sealine 390 has TAMD61a s and has 23"x29" props on 2" shafts. Yours is probably a bit lighter so I would have thought 25" would be a good start in the absense of a closer comparison.

Edit 23" is the pitch and 29" the diameter I may have stated it the wrong way round as Trevor is probably right- which way is it?

Mine had 1 3/4" shafts and from the owners manual the props were 3 blade 20 1/2" x 22" (dia x pitch). This was with TAMD60C 255 HP. I think the TAMD61A had the same shafts with four blade props.

You might get a specific answer on the Fairline Owners Club forum.

Welcome to the forum

Not really a lot of help asking what shaft sizes and props are fitted to other boats. When re-engining unless you are massively increasing power, it does not make sense to change shaft size, so work within the shaft size already fitted. Similar with prop size. The maximum diameter may be limited by the clearace to the hull which might again be different on other boats. Best to consult with a propeller specialist once you have chosen your engines and they will advise whether your shafts can take the power and recommend propeller sizes to suit your boat and your intended use.

Thanks for the answers until now.

I have consolted the one and only Prop and shaft specialist in Denmark, but sad to say he couldnt help me a lot. And his answer where to try and gather all the information i can outside Denmark.

I have bought a complete driveline fra Kuwait. It is a pair of TAMD63p-a, running Twin Disk 505 with reduction 1:50-1 on aprox 38 mm shafts og 4 blades 20 inch propeller ( sorry i do not have the pitch on the propeller )

When i look at the output the 63p-a, they have 370 HP at 2800 rpm, and my fear goes to the 38 mm shaft. Is it strong enough ( i do not know of shafts are made of Temest 25 or a Aquamet of some kind )

38/39 x 1800 mm shaft costed in Denmark 1200£ each and another 1250£ for each 19" 5 bladed prop ( the specialist here in DK claim that it has to be 5 bladed props becouse the 4 plades props can not transfer all the power from the engines )

That although a have seen a lot of Fairline 36 Turbo og Princess 40 with the same engine configuration.

I am just a commonly employed with ordinary pay, and i need all the help that i can get.

Ones again - sorry for my poor english

you said 61a in your original post - only 306 hp. So ignore what I said completely.

Sealine fit their TAMD 63P powered boats with 2" shafts turning 23" dia x 31" pitch 4 blade props.

Apparently the props are "high performance" but I don't really know what they mean by that!!
