I know I have bought the right bits (multiplexer with USB out and USB configuration of ports) but I don't have the confidence to take my existing system apart and rewire so that AIS is visible on my C80. If anyone fancies showing me how, feel free to PM me. Beers and lunch on me. The existing wiring is readily accessible and tidy. Boat is on the hard at Burnham. Cheers.

I think the lack of replies may be related to the USB bit. Ordinarily, connecting a Vhf/aid to a C80 wouldn't involve any USB - just hook it up to the nmea input and set the baud rate on the plotter. I suspect the multiplexer you mention is because you already have something hooked up to the nmea input.

Shame I live too far away. Always willing to work for food :encouragement: Its a good offer!

You may be right. The sub is used (1) to configure the multiplexer ports (baud rates etc.) and (2) to get names out of the system to connect a pc. I don't need help with these aspects. You are right too that there is no available names input on the plotter but there might be one on the auto helm but I don't want to get it wrong. I'm sure it won't take long but I need my hand holding.
