I can format the card from file manager in pc-planner (orange multi card reader), but not from the SH CP180 (which shows "device not present" if I try and format it there. Once formatted in the orange reader via pc-planner, it is still not recognised by the CP180 which gives "Device not present". Not a happy bunny. Any deas ?.

I have the same setup and initially had the same trouble. The problem turned out to be the seating of the c-card in the slot on the plotter. I found that pushing the card downward so that it was seated in the bottom of the slot did the trick. It only moved a fraction but there was a noticable 'click' as it moved.

Dave.

Hi Alan,

I'm not sure if the following is helpful or relevant.

My son nearly wrote off a sd ram card by formatting it in an phone. It ceased to be recognised.

The issue turned out to be that the phone formatted the card as a FAT32 disk which would have been fine except the the card had too much memory for that format.
It was only by formatting as NTFS through windows file manager that it was sorted out.
(Sorry I may have got FAT32 and NTFS the wrong way around!)
