We have recently purchased a second hand Read's ZigZag sewing machine. It is in good condition except for the manual drive which has damage to both gear wheels and which jams. The firm used to be in Southampton but I cannot now trace them. The PBO also could not give me any ideas. Does any one know from where spare parts might be obtained?

A number of sewing machine retailers also offer servicing as well. They would probably be able to advise were you can get spare parts or maybe even match parts. Its worth a try.

Think JJ&J Read are still about - try 336 Shirley Road, Shirley Southampton
023 80771398 I went there a couple of weeks ago and they seem very clueful

There are various firms in the UK that sell off the shelf gears wheels in plastic and steel.

Most have web sites but I dont have details with me but a search may find them.
