Here is a new offering in the heavyweight machine market that could be of interest:

Industrial SAILMAKER Sewing Machine & Motor. Leather, Canvas, etc NEW from DSM | eBay

Badged by a small company in Durham, probably a one man band and sourced from Global in Holland - no doubt of Chinese origin. All it lacks for me is a walking foot, I would prefer something supplied with the machine rather than a generic item.
The motor looks nothing special but the belt seems up to the job.

Thanks for posting the link.

Not a bad looking bit of kit, but the 'throat' seems a bit small, and I agree with the need for a proper walking foot.

The ?magnetic LED work light looks very neat and being adjustable will be v useful . Does this indicate the machine has a steel frame ?

If the zig-zag is 5mm, then just about OK for serious sail work.

I'd like to see a heavier flywheel to cope with multiple sail folds, but it's useful to see the manual option for off-mains use, however the rotation in manual mode is 'pull' action rather than a 'push' one so may be a bit awkward.

The led light is the same as I added to one of the machines I have on board. The description didn't say where it's wired but the motor socket usually has a constant live in addition to the variable live that controls the motor speed. Powering it from there saves having to use an extra mains socket for the light.

Nice and bright, magnetic, easy to position and available on eBay.

Lack of a true walking foot is a bit of a show stopper on this one though.

Global is a good brand . Very chunky.Looks like it’s on the Reliable or Barracuda casting.it has quite a neat presser roller foot . Doesn’t help to feed fabric through but maintains the line and must help hold it down without jamming it .

90w machine mounted motor does not sound like it will have a lot of power ? Looks very strongly built though.

Very similar to the original Singer 20u which is usually mounted on an industrial table with a proper powerful clutch motor. I have the Singer 20u43 which gives a large zigzag - about 8mm but is FAST - I had to slow mine down. No walking foot but not a problem, but obviously not portable like the above.
