Sevylor K68 inflatable - fitting floor

I've just got hold of this inflatable and I'm struggling to fit the floor boards. I can't get the board at the stern to fit under the batten on the transom. Also the metal stays will not fit without the use of a garden hoe and a lot of levering! Please can somone tell me if there is a knack to it?!

Did you put the floor in before inflating it? if not try it it may well fit easily.
