Folks,
I'm being offered both Sessa Oyster 35's and Jeanneau Prestige 34's (open top) at relitavely the same price.

Era is between 2001 - 2003.

The Prestige 34 has KAD 300's opposed to the Oyster 35 KAD43's

The cockpit seating area is greater in the Oyster 35 which is what is swaying me towards the Oyster 35.

Given a choice, what would the panel choose?! I know it depends on the condition of each boat etc. but all things being equal condition wise, which one would it be for you? And why?

The oyster 35 if, and it's a big if, the boat has the optional forward bulkhead making it a proper two cabin boat.

If it hasn't I'd go for the prestige. If you can get a deal on a prestige ht I'd have that over the oyster

Cheers for the info.

There's something dragging me towards the Prestige 34, BUT, the Oyster 35 has more cockpit seating area and I prefer the electrics layout (circuit board, easy access) and the heads on the Prestige 34 is TINY (I know you don't spend much time in there)

The Oyster 35 does indeed have the separate cabins

We have a Prestige 34, but the HT not open variant. We've had it about a year now and love it - works so well for us with two young kids. The cockpit and side deck setup is really well thought through and very safe which was a key requirement. Yes the heads is tiny, but I'm 6'2" and I manage to pee and wash okay, but showering is a hassle. Boat really flies with the KAD300s - we had 25 knots today at 3000rpm and economy is pretty good - about 2nmpg - and will hit 38 knots at WOT.

Happy to answer any questions you may have.

Have you looked at an HT variant? Saves a lot of hassle with canopies, and unless you're a shorty you can stick your head out the roof for the wind in your hair experience, and a big plus is that the rain can be shut out at the touch of a button.

Are you considering the Sessa that's for sale at East Cowes?

Happy hunting....

Hi Adrian,
Thanks for your response. I have viewed a Prestige 34 Hard Top so have a good feel for the boat. Of course we would prefer the HT version, but the budget won't allow it. There are good value Open Top's in France, hence my interest.

My only concern really is the small heads. I know I would fit more people in the cockpit of the Oyster 35, but it's rare i'd have more than 8 people on-board (I'm talking once/twice a season) so I wouldn't worry about that too much.

I'll keep on to the brokers and see what we can come up with. In fairness, a lot of brokers are being realistic about price so i'm happy that there is value out there, once you spend a while looking.

Boat shopping has never been so hard!

Adrian I have also PM'ed you
