What should it cost?
Any recommendations in the solent area?
Is it likely to improve starting and production of black smoke?
Engine is 3GM30.
Seems to smoke more on startup this year, but somehow I'm still on the the first tank of fuel, so it could be poor fuel.
Injectors haven't been touched in 5 years but low hours..
All opinions received with at least good humour!
Cheers,
Chris

if you get full rpm (>3,000), a little black smoke and no unburnt diesel in the exhaust then the exhaust elbow is probably OK and servicing the injectors might be enough. Marine Power as Johna mentions are very good. Note that any additional work required, eg lapping in a seat, is extra so cost can climb quite steeply and get close to cost of new one which is approx £90 incl vat.

Automarine Diesels at Portslade may be a little bit out of your way. However they checked my injectors out for free and told me that the pressures and spray pattern were OK. Hopefully any reputable diesel specialist would do the same checks for you.
