Afternoon.

I now have two AD41 engines to service and the legs..

I have the engine oil and filters but need to know what gear oil and how to change it and also how to clean the heat exchanger and change imprellers ..

I had a Mercruiser before and know these were in the legs and easy to do but clueless on the new engines

Thanks

Ian

Impeller is on the engine with the ad41.

Workshop manual for legs is easily found on the internet and gives easy to follow info.
To clean heat exchanger either treat all cooling system with a flushing product or remove and take it apart.
Impeller is in 75mm diameter casing under the water filter on the front of the engine, undo little screws to remove cover plate.
Remove impellor with grips and push in new, renewing gasket when you replace cover plate.
You will find all the manuals you need here:

pop into a Volvo dealer and order one of "Do it Yourself" books. Extremely useful -

I had a TAMD41 which is very similar to yours, I serviced it last year myself with no issues - very easy to work. Heat exchanger is worth cleaning if your temperature stays high, or not planning to use it that often over the winter, we used it at least once every two weeks and it was all fine.

Thanks for all the help.

I will source a book as that's needed I think.

As per my other post I'm trying source what fluids I need and all my parts for this weekend.

As with the heat exchanger and oil cooler are they easy to remove and what should I clean them with

Thanks ian

The heat exchanger only needs opening from one side - you need a new washer after that. So just open it from the side which it's easier - if not blocked too much just rinse it with water hose (assuming it's possible on your boat) - if blocked use a wire and unblock it - be careful not to damage the cells .
