My neighbours on the Teign have an overheating problem with their marinised ford engines, and they have traced the problem to the heat exchangers. Can anyone suggest a good marine engineer in South Devon who can help them ?

it is a simple enough job to DIY, remove the heat exchanger, remove the end caps, remove the rubber rings, stand on end with wooden blocks to support the casing, then with a wooden drift tap the matrix out, 6to4 it is full of crud, both in the tubes and ind amongst the reeds. Steam cleaning will bring it back to life, refit with new rubbers job done.

Mine were utterly disgusting when I did them a couple of months ago. (Inter coolers, not the main heat exchangers)
I did not do a great job, more of enough to get me back on the water. I would recommend a ultrasonic bath every time.
Which is what I will buy over winter to get them in...
