<font color=blue>My boat is fitted with a 9.7KVA Gennie. I have the Volvo MD2 engine that powers it serviced regularly. During the season the Gennie is used heavily maybe 8-12 hours a day. Should the electrics side of it also be serviced or is it a case of "if it ain't broke don't fix it"

It's unlikely to be servicable aside from the brushes, the bearings will be sealed for life and neither are a 5 minute job, otherwise no if it 'ain't broke don't worry"

If it's ac (ie an alternator) it is unlikely to have brushes so, if it ain't broke don't fix it (other than keeping it reasonably clean perhaps). However, if it is dc, then will have brushes and these at the very least should be periodically checked.
