this year we want todo the maintenance on our OB ourselves,
don't have the manual on hand here,
what is involved ?

- engine oil and leg oil
- filters
- anodes

apart from that, anything else ?
- read about changing the spark plugs ? how often ?
- how to fill the leg- oil, what pump & accesories are needed for pumping the oil in / up ?

welcoming advice, thanks

Servicing and outboard yourself is very easy. I have mostly 2 strokes so even easier.

1) For gear oil invest in this type of pump and a ltr of gear oil.... Pump up from the bottom hole with the top bung removed

2) Change the engine oil if you feel it is necessary. I don't think this is needed ever year but I am sure others will chip in and disagree

3) Petrol filter change again if it is necessary... Again I think every 2 - 3 years is ok

4) Anodes if they have little left on them... Is this 70 out of the water or in most of the time. If it is out they will last years

5) Spark Plugs are quite cheap but again I think every 3 years or even more is fine.

6) Water pump impeller.. Great debates to be had here but I think they will easiuly last 3 - 5 years but others qet all fired up and spout off how they need doing every year.... Fact is they don't... A war will start now

7) Spray around with WD 40 and a wipe over and grease any nipples on the steering etc

There are many videos on You Tube that are a great help

Super easy Bart. I have same engine and always service myself. Parts from boats.net

Fuel filter (aft top) is 30 seconds. Main engine oil is easy provided the engine leg is vertical. Drain plug on aft side of leg.

Gearbox oil is easier with the oil in "toothpaste tubes" imho. Buy 3.

You need to grease gun the tilt and steering bearings.

I only have 100 hours so have never changed spark plus. I just clean them. Anodes are also still good- there are several in the power head (see drawings on boats.net) and they are really tight on the threads the first time you unscrew them.

Water pump is a 40 minute job. The gearbox unbolts easily but remember to remove the fin anode above the prop because there is a hidden bolt in there. I do it at 3 years intervals with a low hours engine.

If you have the 6X3 or 6X0 throttle unit I recommend removing the throttle handle and greasing the die casting where the red plastic sliding neutral lock slides. This can corrode and jam, and the parts are expensive.

Also the tilt angle sender is worth greasing and cleaning.

And then a wipe everywhere with wd40 etc. All very easy.
