The patio door catch broke on the boat a couple of weeks ago. I contacted the local Beneteau dealer, 'We can get you one, it'll have to be ordered from Beneteau, we can give you a bit of discount, £200 inc. delivery and VAT'

Needless to say I didn't order it, but managed a quick fix by drilling the patio door frame and fitting a padlock.

The next weekend I took it apart and found the makers name, a quick visit to The Majors pad, and after 10 minutes on tinteweb he'd found me a number and contact for the UK distributor of the Italian manufacturer. I rang the mobile number and a very helpful chap suggest I e-mail him some pictures and he'd see what he could do. 3 days later a new catch assembly arrives through the post F.O.C.

Now you can't beat that can you!

At least I can rule you out of the debit card enquiry as you were in my house when the bank rang me to say that someone was dipping into my bank account.

But, that was a seriously good result to find the lock that is made by a company that didn't even have a proper internet presence on the day we checked.

Savio traffic all went to an exhibition site, but I see that it is now a 'proper' site even if it doesn't work very well and you have to register to see any products.
