Further to the post on H/H gps connecting to laptops etc. I'm doing something similar the hard way. What the pin-outs are for a 9 way D-type 232 port? I know 2 & 3 are transmit and receive but which way round? I think 7 is gnd. Can anyone help?

No pin 5 is grd on a db9, 7 is on a 25 way. You only need 3 wires 2, 3 & 5.
You may need to cross 2 & 3 to get it working depneding on what you're connecting to. eg P2-P3 & p3-P2. Try you won't break it.
