Serial Pinouts

Hi all
I've just installed a Raymarine C90W plotter and connected it to a laptop running Maptech via the plotter NMAE port and laptop serial port. Data gets to laptop OK but cant get data from laptop to plotter. I have connected the pin3 (transmitted data) to plotters NMAE + in but not sure what to connect to -in.
This is a 9pin serial port, any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

Connect it to Pin 5 (serial ground).
