I'm wanting to make a cradle and went swimming (diving) etc., to make some measurements....

Coming back with a V shape at stern between 38 and 40 degrees and thought it very steep, so wanting to seek second opinion....

...any thoughts amongst you guys here from this picture taken a couple of years back ... could the hull at the stern be as steep as 38 degrees ?

The angle taken from your pic is 140 deg around the keel from chine to chine,

Taking the horizontal as 180 deg then the angle of each side is at 20 deg to the horizontal measured from keel to chine (180 - 140 divide x 2)

Very unlikely. Planing boats generally have a deadrise angle (angle between horizontal and hull angle) at the transom of 15 -18 degrees although the deadrise on your boat does look quite steep
