Hi, I’m looking for information on my Selmar pedestal assembly. With the chain unhooked the wheel alone is stiffer than it should be, it will not spin. I would like to withdraw the shaft and clean/repkacetge bushes/bearings. Does anyone know what holds the shaft in place?

I would suggest that the bearings on the wheel shaft are partially sensed and need dismantling and cleaned
I have now succeeded in removing the shaft and the sprocket boss. I used aluminium tubes and thick steel washers and a 24mm 1.5mm nut as a puller, slow but it worked. A drift hammer would have been useful. The shaft is fixed to the sprocket boss with a split pin and is keyed.
The stiffness was the sprocket boss being VERY tight against the aluminium castings that hold roller bearings for the shaft.
Now to find out whether that is corrosion expansion of the aluminium bearing housings. Also need to remove the outer sleeves of the roller bearings to replace them completely.
