selling sea ray 240 with diesel advice

Personally, I would ditch a couple of those photos.
e.g. the aft cabin one with the bedding, the bilge pump, the switches.
Remove the shore power cable from that stern shot.

People buy boats because they want to buy into a dream, so how about a shot at dusk that shows off what those LED's look like, a shot from the bow that makes it look sleek, etc.
How about a shot with the canvas off?
Ideally you want something that looks as close as possible to a SeaRay brochure.

Cue henryf in a minute ...

I'd also ditch pics that show things like the dirty canopy on the radar shot, the rust stained lining in the eberspacher pic etc etc, or take them again not showing those flaws. If a serious buyer wants pics of flawed items they can be emailed.

I think although the boat is well equipped I reckon the money is slightly strong, maybe knock 2k off the asking price. A 240 with kad32 all in excellent order just sold down here for 23k .
 
Thanks for the reply's they are all good comments and i think i will retake some of the pictures. The price from what i have seen is mid range from other adverts with a Diesel powered searay and mine has all the extras. I except that i need to take a knock on the price but 2k off then the buyer will want another few k off as well i can not except at this stage.

Why guild the Lily?? Show it as it is, at least it will save somebody (not interested) a journey, and you some embarrassment. Leave the ad alone, at least it is an honest one. i.e no BROKER JARGON.

PS how long have you been advertising??

Only a few months advertised but i thought i might have got a bit more interest than i have had.
 
We bought one of these boats three months ago and researched the market thoroughly at the time having decided that this was the make and model of boat that we wanted.
This is what I would have been thinking if yours was available at the time.
Way over priced. Most petrol versions were asking £20k with one or two up to £22k. I would not have considered an extra 30% for a diesel. I dont think that diesels are as attractive at this size of boat as some people think. However your Nanni is more powerfull than the usuall volvo or merc option and I am wondering if it is newer than the boat, in which case you should say so as I would be less worried about expensive bits going wrong if it was say less than ten years old.
The radar and arch would not add any attraction to me and many as not needed for the type of passages most do in these type of craft so I dont think you can expect to see any return on that investment.
The cover looks a bit tired in some shots so I would have been allowing for a new cover.

all comments are welcome . I did think that the radar and arch might not be every ones cup of tea . I did think about removing the extra,s and selling them off separately and that way i can reduce the boat down in price. I am trying to get as much funds for my next boat. The cooker i have no problem with its a good flame.
 
The photographs are not the best, taken on a phone? Can you use a proper camera with a wide angle lens? Take some wide angle interior images, these will make the space look bigger and give less focus to the minor niggles. Alternatively hire a professional photographer to take them for you, it will cost £150/£200 but you'd perhaps get more interest in a sale.

Trouble is, so far it has saved everybody a journey - it doesn't sound as if there has been a steady stream of people congratulating the OP on how accurate his advert was.

Ultimately you could put in an advert for "Lump of fibreglass with cushions inside, comes with a blue engine, outdrive, bilge pump, tanks and cables"...

The idea of having decent pics up there is to generate some footfall, out of which you are hoping that one will fall in love with the boat.

You are overpriced imo. Similar examples are selling for under 24k, and as said, have a look what ~30k can buy at the moment in the sub 30 foot class from the mid naughties. here
 
Boats.co.uk had one of these for sale earlier in the year with a Volvo Penta KAD 32 diesel engine (which I believe was the factory fit diesel option) up at £19,950. I don't know what is sold for of course.

People don't want "mid range" they want "bottom range" or at least a bargain. I would not have even mentioned the Radar Arch, If I was buying a 13 year old boat I would be more interested in things like service history, when the leg had a last full service, engine hours.
And I would not have put that it was a Demonstrator boat as that implies that for the 3 years it probably had more use than what an ordinary owner would have used it. And it would have been in the water all the time whereas many privately owned boats are taken out of the water in the winter.
But that's just my opinion.

And I will keep my eye on your advert as when I have sold a property I will be looking for a boat like yours.

As you mention it, I took ours over the weighbridge the other day.
It was 50kg over the 3.5t limit. I was a bit surprised as we had already stripped out any removable heavy items and drained water tank etc and the claimed weight of the boat is just over 2.5t. Trailer is supposed to be 720kg so should have a bit to spare, and it is a standard boat....just goes to show. So we are weighing bits to work out how to bring it under so will be ok in the end!!!
 
It all depends of how much of a hurry you are in..
If no rush then a punt on the market at a optimistic price is always worth a try.
If you do hook a buyer in hurry then fine, all that extra dosh can go towards your your new purchase,if not , then gradual reduction will eventually result in a sale probably closer to its actual market value.
Summer is a good time to sell a sports boat but winter is a better time to buy.
Do agree that although any experienced boater would regard any boat with diesel as a much better buy than anything with a petrol,buyers looking in this section of the market are far less likely to be aware of the big advantages offered by diesel.
The least of which is not lugging 20 litre drums to and from the local supermarket, stinking out the car in the process and desperately hoping the girl at the checkout does not spot you breaking the forecourt fire regulations.:)

Might sound silly but you could empty the diesel tank, remove anchor, Remove battery. go on weighbridge, GET WEIGHT TICKET, put the stuff back on.
There are two reasons you get a Weight Ticket
1. If you have an accident the Insurance Companies Loss Adjuster cant try and reject the claim by saying you were over weight
2. If you are driving a HGV and stopped on a random stop by the Police, one of the questions asked is "Have you been on a weighbridge" and if you have they look at the ticket and let you carry on.
It used to be that you could be up to 5% overloaded before they took someone to court, in your case the 5% would be 139 kilos. (3500-720 trailer)
It is extremely doubtful that if you were say 100 kilos over the 3500 gross weight that they would take you to court as being a Private Motorist you do not have a HGV Operators Licence at risk.
