My boat 24' bilge keel boat is for sale.

I have had some interest but some interesting comments:
Firstly:
"the fact that there is no inboard engine (petrol outboard will be both expensive to run and, in my experience, dangerous (no disrespect)"

It is advertised with outboard propulsion, are 4 stroke petrol outboards considered that dangerous?

Second one:
"Unfortunately, I'm out - too much work for me and I doubt whether she would make it back to my home port."

Is there something he knows that I do not, if he can judge that from the photographs?

Am I being sensitive? I know its a buyers market but....

Go on what's the worst comment you have received?

The bloke was a tyre kicker numpty.

Worse comment when I sold my Snappie - well after he had driven from Ireland to Essex with a trailer (without aving seen it or surveyed it but paid good money) and towed it home he sent me an email saying the battery was knackered. I sent him E70 to buy a new one. Only boat sale and only one punter. Charmed :)

I wouldn't have done. Private sale, caveat emptor.

You're obviously a very nice man :)

Got to agree with that one. Trying to refuel a petrol o/b at sea is dodgy, and the ability of any o/b powered boat to make it through a seaway is not as good as an inboard.

My first boat was o/b ( Honda 8 in a Hunter 26) and it was such a poor performer that I installed a 1GM.

Sure an inboard is better, but having an outboard isn't some kind of defect to complain about, which is what the comment sounds like to me.

You might want to think about using the sails occasionally then potential purchasers...

All these carping comments about outboards.
Completely irrelevant of course.

The boat has one. The vendor is not interested in people who aren't interested, but only in those who are interested.

Completely disregard negative comments.

Complaining that a boat advertised with an outboard engine, only has an outboard engine, is a bit like complaining that a Skoda is not a BMW.

Horses for courses. There are pro's and con's of inboard and outboard motors, and having an outboard is not a "fault" with the boat.

I'm saving all mine for a book one day :D

But a recent classic was " We don't think the dog took to her"

.... and at the end of a viewing if anyone ever says "thank you for your time", you will never , ever see them again. :)

I saw an advert for a Vincent Black Shadow back in the sixties. The vendor must have had a bit of trouble with prospective punters. The Ad described the bike in all its glory but finished with this sentence "No voyeurs, tyre kickers or tosspots need apply". It was for sale for £135.00, complete, in running order. I should have bought it- one sold at auction recently for £56,000!
