My HR 36 is currently in Sweden. In the next year it will have to be sold. Does anyone have experience of selling it in Sweden? Is it easy/ feasible? Do they have a brokerage system and most importantly is the value of the boat likely to be similar to the UK?
Any information gratefully received.

Here's the result of a search for HR 36 on Blocket, a big site like Ebay in Sweden:

Asking prices range from 1,700,000 SEK (£160,000) to 1,995,000 SEK (£188,000).

I've been looking at buying a Swedish boat to sail back to UK to sell, as either the agents here want too much or at least some makes are much cheaper in Sweden.
The Market there is much smaller but you will get German buyers more easily I'm guessing.

I bought a boat in Sweden 10 or more years ago and sailed it back to the UK via the Kiel Canal, a great experience.

It was a vessel from a small boat builder so a relatively unknown make. The design and build quality is what made it an attractive proposition. It was a "win-win" transaction. I was very pleased with my purchase and made something like 50% profit when I sold it in the UK 4 years later. The seller probably got more from me than he would have from a local. The locals, of course, have more time to look at a wider available choice, my time was limited to just a couple of weekends.

I had a survey done and, with due respect to his professional qualification, was dreadful value for money.

HR's are HR's the world over so seem to command premiums.

Buying from Sweden for me was a great experience, helped by favourable exchange rate.

I agree, although I bought my Swedish made boat in Finland. There is a huge trade in yachts in Scandanavia. The main issue is real exchange rates. Dont work on the published rate but check what rate you can actually achieve from your back/exchange company.

We bought our boat in Sweden nearly 4 years ago. It was a very positive experience (we bought at SEK14:£1)

Where about are you based there? If you're in the Stockholm archipelago, check out RTC (now Ericsson Marine) in Bullando Marina. Boats never hang around very long on their for sale pontoon.
