At vast expense and with not inconsiderable effort, I helped a friend clean his boat the other day. Suddenly his vessel, untouched by soap and water for several years, began to appear white instead of murky. He seemed overjoyed at the time. Yet less than a week later the git seems to have realised that he has a small window of opportunity whilst the boat is clean (since obviously he's never going to clean it again himself ) and is considering trading it in for something else! I don't know whether to feel flattered or annoyed or both.
