Hi all, looking ahead and we may end up with 2 boats for a period as could end up buying one in med Spain and we have the current boat here in gran canaria.

We need to transfer our effects from the current boat to any new boat and then sell the current boat so the question is, would we be better taking the current boat to med Spain and transfer the stuff and then sell her there or bring the new boat to gran canaria and sell the current boat here?

Peoples thoughts?

Could be a timing thing, depending upon vessel type the Canaries give cruisers a choice of where to next, that said the islands are a cruising area in their own right. Being on mainland Europe may appeal to would be purchasers for the same situation you are now juggling.

Good Luck

I'm not familiar with the routes, but a quick Google shows that there are ferry routes. It may perhaps work out cheaper and/or easier to hire a van to move your gear, depending upon your current berthing arrangements?

Can't help but think it's be far easier selling in the Med.

A buyer buying an "unknown" boat with the prospect of an offshore passage to get it to anywhere else must seem too daunting and too serious a proposition to a goodly proportion of buyers. Whereas the Med is all bikini's, day sails, cocktails and tapas. Easy cruising & easily sold as a proposition to the non-sailing partner...

Thanks all as an option could be to advertise the boat for sale here in the Canaries with the option for me to deliver her to the Med if needs be?
