Selden Gas Struts

Hi all

Has anyone had experience of retro-fitting a gas strut to a Selden rod kicker? I'm thinking of doing so and just wondered how tricky / easy it would be for a complete DIY incompetent. I've looked on the Selden website which suggests its 'easily done' but this always strikes me as oxymoronic in the context of anything to do with a boat!

I haev just got a brand new selden rodkicker with gas strut and I managed to take it apart very easily.

Ahhh but putting it back together ?????


Seriously though... Not a big job. fitted a couple of tailgate struts back to back with a nylon connector piece I made up to mine. Why two? Its what I has on hand and needed the length + lifting power that 1 strut + extension would not give.
