I recently acquired a baby Blake minor. It is adorable, and will fit in the priests hole sized heads on my Holman 26. Except it is seized. The discharge pump piston is stuck. I put vinegar down to clear up the calcification. No joy. Same with hot soapy water. I need some method to extract it. Any suggestions greatly received.

If you take out the four bolts that hold the pump top to the pump body, you will be able to wiggle the rod from side to side a bit, which should make the 'piston' (two rubber bucket washers) unstick from the body wall.

Yes. Exactly.

You need to acquire three things:

1. The Exploded View

2. The PBO article telling you how to strip and rebuild it

3. The Perishable Spares Kit (start saving now...)

It has been over ten years since my circa 1930 baby Blake had been used, It was all seized up. Its all been apart and back together now. I haven't needed to buy any special parts from Blakes to recondition it. Gland packing is easily available on-line, some rubber o rings I already had but can be found easily . The hard work was in cleaning and polishing everything. The brass castings are painted for the reason the standard brass castings are not very smooth.
My main mistake has been to set the discharge piston seals too tight in the bore. it makes pumping out too hard.
The other tricky bit were the connections to the boat plumbing. These has all corroded in the rubber hose so I am lucky to be able to spin new ones on a lathe but they are really just old fashioned water pipe fittings.
