I'm in shock. In autumn I sent away my Bombard AX4 for a professional going-over because it has been going down a lot lately. Back came the word that it can't be fixed. The valves are okay but the material is permeable -- air is leaking everywhere. I've had the thing only eight years and I thought it would last my lifetime (I'm 65). Had folds or kinks in the fabric turned into holes I could understand it, but the breakdown of the fabric itself is amazing. Is this really what happens or am I being conned?

Next question: what cheap and cheerful tender (a bit smaller than this one) would do the job? Which is best value for a low price? Any ideas welcome.

Go To The Chandlers There Is A Liquid You Can Buy That You Pour Into The Valve For About 15 Quid, You Slosh It Around And It Creates A Membrane Inside That Is Air Tight.

There are any number of tyre sealants which might work for you.

Ultraseal/Linseal, etc.

For 20 squids it might be worth an experiment, or if you ring their head office, you might be able to get a sample to play with, as it's such an unusual application.

HAve a chat with Glen at SEMS.

They look after all the Police ribs, and have also done many repairs for our school ribs.

Glen on 01268-534-427.

I have no commercial interest in this company just that they are bloody good at what they do. They also have a massive selection of tenders and ribs for sale there.

Good luck.

Al.
