must be a record for us - two basking sharks, 3 dolphins (or porpoises), whilst off cherbourg peninsular, Red Arrows on friday and most surprising of all - friday night rafted up outside 2 other boats in gosport and a fox - yes a FOX - came across the other 2 boats onto our deck and into our cockpit at 2230 - once it realised we were on board it retreated

that will be one of the covert fox surveillance units used by the QHM and MOD police to check out new arrivals. Did you not see the camera under its chin ?

On the way to the Scillies last week, I saw probably 20 bashing sharks, 3 minke whales, and not sure how many dolphins (20+)

Several years ago saw a fin whale jump out of the water three times, fortunately probably 1/2 mile away. And they are 70' ish and the splash is big! Makes you put your life jacket on, but alas to quick to photo.

Having sailed these western waters for 12 years now, I get the feeling there are plenty more sightings of this spectacular wild life thasn ther used to be.

Its is one of the top reasons that I sail actually.

Definetly no fox though. But had a couple drunkards come onto the boat at Ilfracombe tho. They also beat a hasty retreat when four of appeared in the cockpit!!

Five killer whale spent half an hour playing at being dolphins round the bow a few months ago on the way down to the Cape Verde Islands. Amazing sight, though a bit scary as the bull was about 10m long.

That's nothing! At Steall bothy in Glen Nevis, three mice climbed up the table and joined us for dinner by eating out of our plates. They had napkins tucked round their necks and one of them played the banjo as an encore.
