I have an Autohelm ST6000+ display on the upper helm and an ST7000 display on the lower helm and as part of the console refit, purely for aesthetics, I want to replace the ST7000 with another ST6000+ that I already have, is this just a straight swap?

Numerically, I would have thought the ST7000 would be a later model than the 6000+ but the 7000 certainly looks very dated so I might run into problems 🤷‍♀️

Thanks in advance,
Rob

Hi Rob,
As mentioned before, I am looking to do this also. I have a few Raymarine forum posts saved that explain some of the thinking. They recommend using an Actisense NGW-1-ISO NMEA 0183-2000 converter rather than a Seatalk to SeatalkNG converter.
Can a Type 100/300 Autopilot Course Computer be interfaced to a ST-STng Converter?
[CA11] building updated system for axiom 12 leaving the existing seatalk instrument
[CA11] Autopilot Integration to Seatalkng

As far as I can make out, the item that needs to be interfaced is the course computer, mine is a Type 100. Then the head units are connected into the daisy chained Seatalk network. Some course computers have two Seatalk connections so both controllers can be connected into these.
I plan to daisychain my i40 speed, i40 depth and St6002 controller.

Hey Dino,

l looks like I have a similar set up to you, Type 100 computer and ST6002 head but an ST60 display for depth and speed. The ST60 has been removed as I use the GPS for speed and depth are both displayed on the MFD. As the ST7000 is NMEA0183, I think I'll replace replace it with the spare ST6000+ and see what happens.

On a side note, after much head scratching, I have managed to get both charging voltages from the alternators and and holding tank quantity to display on the MFDs via the Albacombi👌

Hi Rob, Did this ever work out for you? Interestingly, I have an ST8002+ control head at my lower helm, and an ST7000 at the upper helm. The upper helm unit conked out, and I want to replace it as a temp fix until I revamp all the electronics. Any chance your ST7000 would be available to purchase? Thanks!

Hi, I haven't yet got around to it, too busy faffing around with other lower helm issues, a duff fuel gauge turned out to be a knackered sender but slowly getting around to it.........
My plan is to first swap the heads over then assuming that works, I'll install the 6000+ permanently at the lower helm, bodge the other one up top and look out for another 6000+ for when I do the re-fit on that helm.

My dream would be to have a P70 head but I've not been able to confirm it will integrate with my older 100 'computer'.

Hi Rob, I understand completely. I’m interested if it becomes available. Thanks!
