I have a smaller diameter steering wheel which I want to use as an occasional alternative to the standard wheel however the tapered hole in the wheel is too small to fit the standard lewmar shaft on the pedestal. Havn't been able to find a machine shop to bore out the hole to match the shaft because of the size of the wheel and don't like the idea of cutting the boss from the spokes , machining the boss and rewelding . I have noticed that the boss on lewmar wheels are demountable - its basically 2 discs bolted together clamping the spokes so would be easy to use. Only can't see where I can buy. Not listed in Lewmar catalogue or with distributors like Aquafax. Havn't seen any damaged wheels for sale I could salvage the boss from. Any ideas where I could get a boss?

I just googled (image) "yacht steering wheel adapter", "destroyer wheel hub adapter" and "Lewmar steering wheel adapter" and got lots of interesting images.

Anyhow if there isn't something "off the shelf" I'm sure you could get an adapter made up in a machine shop but with two key-ways to cut I can't imagine it would be cheap

Many thanks Clive for your suggestions - some useful leads. Now have Lewmar part no - but supplier not posting out of Australia. Either I get an old boss, drill out existing and weld together or machine something out of aluminium and bolt it to the old boss seems to be the low cost options.
