We brought our catamaran to Burnham from the Tamar last year.

Since then, we've kept her on a swinging mooring.

We're now thinking of getting a berth at the marina (it'll be easier to nip aboard for a short sail, and will give easier access for my elderly parents).

Can anyone give any inside knowledge about the marina, please?

Any berths to avoid, any hassles with management, any special deals we don't know about......anything at all?

Feel free to use pm, if you don't want to go public.

Thanks.

Hi Neil, I have been based on the crouch for fifteen years, two years in Essex Marina on the south side which is opposite Burnham Marina and the last twelve years at Bridgemarsh Marina which is up river on the north side , my first boat was based in Burnham Marina for about six months very expensive good facilities but for me a bit souless and pristine, also at low tide within the marina when relaxing on board you have no view owing to the high banks around you.
However if money is no object for berthing and you want full repair/ restaurant/chandlery/24 hour access a then it ticks all the boxes. I think it would be worth a look in Bridgemarsh access is approx LW +2hrs ( 4ft draft) a bit more at springs, they are very friendly and helpful plus you could save quite a few pounds
but it is an old boatyard type place totally opposite of Burham Marina.

The manager at Bridgemarsh is Biff his mobile No 07968696815.

What you see is what you get, really. The staff are all very pleasant, there is ample parking, and all the facilities are fine although the heads could do with a bit of a refurb in my opinion. Access is 24/7 which sold it for us as we wanted to get up there and sail at weekends regardless of what the tides are up to.

So, no inside info really save to say that, from what you say, it would seem to suit your requirements. As the previous poster said, Bridgemarsh would be much cheaper if you don't mind losing access +-2hrs LW.

They load cats by 50%.
How long wide are you? Some of the berths will be very interesting to get into in a blow as it seems the marina was built for smaller craft than are presently using it.. All the hammerheads afe already taken..
