Security Branding?

Has anyone considered Security Branding items such as fenders, tender, boat-hook etc? To buy an electric branding iron (see below) costs several hundred pounds, so I was considering making my own using a soldering iron as the heat source, or perhaps even the gas ring!

The only problem is casting the letters, or more specifically, making the cast itself. Any suggestions?

A cheap set of hard stamps from the like of screwfix for the metal letters and numbers. Some time with a grinder to cut them short and braze them onto a backing bar.
