I've seen a few stories here of people getting their boats burgled. PC Pro March 2007 mentions a nice gadget that might be of interest. It's the Nokia PT-6 remote observation camera; described as a mobile phone with camera, no keyboard, IR illuminatore etc.
It will detect motion and start sending photos to wherever you want. You can also listen in if alerted. Internal battery has 12 hour life so you would need to use ships battery to power it.
I've no idea about costs.
Looking at the picture of it concealing it might be difficult.
