Advice needed please. I am considering locating my boat somewhere in Croatia. I need a secure marina where the boat could remain unattended for several weeks at a time without receiving any unwelcome attention. How is marina security in Croatia ?

Only ever heard of one case of theft of belongings (Coincidentally a forumite!). In theory, they're not very secure (no man at the gate, passes, or anything like that). In practice, I've never considered it a problem and usually leave the boat open if staying in a marina.

We have been in Croatia/Yugoslavia since 1985, even during the war years, never personally heard of anything going missing from a boat, and when you see what people leave unsecured on deck that's amazing. I would say much safer here than in the UK

Take a look at Marina Dalmacia at Sukosan, south of Zadar. When we were there two years ago there were quite a few british boats and a bit of a community. Fully fenced and gated with security. Some workshop facilities and a chandlery. Its a big (1200 boat) marina and pretty cheap!
