I have had some electrix probs, sorted by someone much more learned than I. I now want an engine start button mounted in the cockpit, rather than down in the bowels of the boat, but becoz if I press this button while the engine is running I will do all sorts of damage, it has to have a "are you sure " type safeguard like, for example a guard to lift before activation of the button. Is there such a low voltage button protected by a screen or shutter to protect against accidental useage?

As always thanks to all and thanks to PBO

There's any number of guarded buttons available - but perhaps a better system would use a relay to disengage the button when the engine is running.
