Unless its come in on a foreign vessel then it must have been up to UK spec when new so it shouldnt be a problem.

With a lot of folk converting to DSC sets there should be plenty of old VHFs about ,I bought one off the for sale section on this site.I posted the chap a cheque to cover postage as well and a couple of days later it arrived.

Please dont buy one out of your local free adds paper unl;ess you know its history your "good buy"could have been stolen off some poor buggers boat.

Funny thing is ....

You don't see many s/hand VHF's on the market !! I look for HH's all the time - as we use them in our Shipping work out here in Baltic.

But as far as I was told - s/hand market VHF's are allowed as long as you use it in the country of original sale ... as it should have been cleared for use then ......

I know many are changing to DSC etc. - but I am yet to be convinced that I need it for my Solent hopping coastal stuff. Of course someone will 'educate me' !!
