I have a Sealine S29 and understand the sales of the soft top S29....not the SC29, have been slow.

Currently (provided my information is correct) the S29 is only up to number 30, whilst the SC29 has exceeded 100. I understand they run numbers in sequence.

Will this improve the secondhand value of the soft top version?

or reduce it because no one wants to buy new anyway?

What is more import is how quickly could you get a new one? If you rocked up to Burton waters today and said 'there's my £125k, can I have a S29 please?' and there response was, yes there are 10 stock boats you can have tomorrow, which do you want?' then no, it is not going to do you any favours.

If however they decide to stop production of the S29 in favour of the HT's (which Sealine seem to be inclined to do) then yes, a bit like when a painter dies, any one who wants one will have to go used, and wont have much choice, so that *should* mean the values remain strong. It doesn't really matter that they sold more HT's new, the fact is when you have a limited supply prices are higher.

I suspect there are probably not that many S29's from "stock"
so can hope that is doing good for my resale value.
But apparently you cant get an S29 for 125K /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

the rumour keeps surfacing about them dropping the S29....one you know?
and with the new models being the SC38 and SC35...
maybe they think the way to go is for 2CV style peel back roofs.

I have to agree with Jez (again!). When I sold my 2 year old Nimbus I got an unbelievably good price for it - no haggles - no "can I have a full tank of fuel and new carpets please etc etc".

Just - "Yes - that'll do nicely. When can I have it?"

And the reason - because he didnt want to wait 2 seasons for a new one............
