If anyone has experience of a Seaward 25 with twin 75hp Yanmars, I'd be grateful to hear your opinions & experiences. Performance; i.e. cruising speed at say 3100RPM, top speed, fuel economy and endurance? Any other comments pro or anti the twin 75 setup.
Having just taken a Seaward 25 on a 600+ Nm delivery trip (it had the twin 125s setup), I'm now seriously considering purchasing a used 25, or perhaps a 29, at the right price
Thanks in anticipation.

Saw one pottering about at Conwy this weekend. Looked very elegant on the water. Good looking boat.

The 25 is indeed a lovely boat.
The more modern ones have 110 or 125hp twin engine installation. I wonder if the 75s were found lacking whether the power could be increased, perhaps by a bigger turbo and/or changes to the fueling. Having said all that, 12-14 knots cruising is fairly practical. On a day's run of sat 100Nm, the time at 12 knots would be just over 8 hours and at 14 just over 7.

It was my Seaward 25 which Wizzer skippered to Scotland last month, and I am proud to think he enjoyed it so much that he is considering buying one himself. It turned out to be a very happy and enjoyable trip, as Paul, an ex RNLI coxswain, gave me a great feeling of security and confidence with his care and consideration and great concentration on safety.

Indeed I did buy one.
Attached pics of "Morpheus" in Brixham , Falmouth & St Peter Port taken during my two day trip home.

Hi, I believe you bought Morpheus, its up for sale again. Could you PM me. Thanks

I got some info from Seaward. 25 about 0.5 l/m at 6kn. Graph almost vertical to about 10knthen about flat to 17kn at 1.7l/m.
29 3l/m from 13kn to 23kn. 35 almost 5l/m same speed range.

Hi Wizzer,

Please can I ask how you found the Seaward 25 with twin 75HP Yanmars? I have exactly the same questions as you did originally (cruising speed, top speed, fuel consumption, endurance) plus one on noise.... Are they noisier than the 110s because they have to work harder?

Thanks.

Hi Mussels,

I now own the Seaward 25 , Morpheus, which Wizzer used to own. I have done a fair few hours in it already, including bringing it from River Crouch, round to the Isle of Wight.

It has twin 75`s, and cruises comfortably at 12kts, with max speed around 14/15 kts. My fuel consumption at 2800 / 3000 Revs, doing 12kts is 8/9 litres per hour per engine. So my endurance is around 130 nm, with a 20% safety. But it is very easy in my boat to carry another 22 litres per engine, with addittional plastic tanks placed next to the main tanks, extending the range by another 30 nm.

Regarding noise, at cruising my wife and I can easily have a conversation, with the doors open, and is obviously quieter with the doors shut. It surprised me how quiet they are, even with old fashioned sound proofing still in place.

Any other info you need, please ask.

Regards

Chris

Morpheus is a proper boat. Loved owning her She will serve you well, given the attention she deserves.
