Seattle to Coco Island:

- What route would you suggest?
- How long should we estimate trip to take as a minimum?
- How are the sailing conditions (weather and currents)
on this stretch from October to December - could this an issue?!!

Thanks in advance

There are two - I take it you're talking about the one off Costa Rica.

According to Jimmy Cornell the best time to go from Washington to California is May to October. The preferred route is to stay about 100m offshore as many harbours are dangerous to enter if the weather gets up

From California to Central America the preferred time is November to May. Tropical storms may be encountered between June and October. Again the advice is to stay 100m offshore to avoid effects of land breezes and coastal shipping.

Hope that helps

Of course if you meant the one west of Java that's a different story...

Thanks - does Jimmy Cornell's advice simply imply that it is too risky, too cold or too tough to sail from Seattle to California in October?

Thank you for your help
