The purpose of this post is to help anyone installing a new Raymarine MFD to a legacy seatalk system.

I have just replaced my Raymarine 435 plotter with an e7 and need to also install the seatalk to seatalk Ng convertor so my Raymarine ST60 tridata, wind instrument and ST6002 autopilot control would talk to the e7.

Firstly it was simple! All you need to do is plug one seatalk to seatalk ng cable from the back of any of your legacy instruments into the convertor. Plug a seatalk ng cable from the converter to the new chartplotter. Blank off the remain ports on the converter and turn the whole lot on. Raymarine advice was not to apply a seperate power source to the converter as the legacy seatalk system would provide enough power. They were 100% right of course and the whole thing took less than 30 mins.

Photos to follow and I will report back after my first trip out. 20 gusting 25 in the marine today.
