Hi there, I am Hon Sec of the Countess Owners Association, the Countess was also designed by Ian Anderson who is our President. We have a web site at www.countessowners.com and in theory our charter includes Seastream boats. If we can help in any way please let me know.

Hi Captainslarty, realise that this is a long shot as this was posted so long ago. I have been the proud owner of Seastream 34, Django for 2 seasons now and as a relative novice have really appreciated the qualities of this fantastic boat. I would love to have the opportunity to keep in touch with other owners - did you get any interest?

We very nearly bought one about 6 years ago .... and had a very lucky escape. We liked the design for family sailing and looked at one at Burnham called Jost van Dyke. Clarke and Carter were the agent and we viewed it twice then made an offer. Offer accepted we paid a deposit subject to survey ... alarm bells should have rung when clarke and Carter would let us view the last survey in the office but would not give us a copy ...
We had it surveyed by Paul Stevens and thank god we did. It turned out it had been peeled twice for osmosis treatment and they had peeled the matting - Paul could actually flex the hull below the waterline. Needless to say, we expressed our disgust and pulled out.
The really bad thing is that Paul did some investigating and found that the owner knew of the problems and the boat had actually split then been bodged. We also are 99% certain Clarke and Carter knew the full story ... hence the 'read only' survey.
Great boats, shame this one was ruined. Deceitful seller and agent. I would never have anything to do with Clarke and Carter again.
Incidentally, the boat is still there 5 years on with bore holes drilled - it's basically worthless but not for sale anymore.
We bought a lovely Dawn Class 39 last year which we are very very pleased with ... so everything worked out well.

Enjoy your boats, they are lovely looking in my opinion.

You should look to include the excellent Seastream 43 in your group.
Regarding the Captainslarty, he was last seen in La Corrunna, tearing out the chart table to replace it with a luxury sofa. He has since been seen on a Cruising Forum.....gone but not forgotten.

Hello!
We have a 1978 Seastream 34 Ketch. We have owned it for 2 years and love it. We have been looking for someone in Florida but no luck. My husband will be contacting you as he has done a LOT of work on our boat and would love to swap info! So glad to find a Seastream forum

Hull # location on a Seastream 34???

Hello,
We own a 1978 Seastream 34 Ketch motorsailer. We have not been able to locate the hull # on the boat. Does anyone know where it is?

Most unlikely it will have a hull number as such things were not consideered important until they became compulsory in 1998. Quite often the sail numbers would be issued consequitively, but over time they have probably disappeared. You may well find clues in the fittings in the boat as often those were marked up with the boat number so that they could be identified in the factory. The yard that built the boat might have kept records, but once they go out of business any records tend to get lost unless somebody such as an owners association picks them up. Other potential sources are the original sale documents, and if it was registered in the UK there might be a reference on the registration document.

Not a lot of help - just how things are (or were).

I bought a Seastream34 last year as a project boat and am now in the latter stages of finishing. Would be keen to have your advice on various aspects of the re-fit also to view any pics you might have of your boat's interior.

Hello, are you still the happy owner of a Seastream34 ? I've been modifying mine for the past two years and would like to swap notes on the trials and tribulations.

Hi Brian, I'm afraid I sold Django in May 18 but may still be able to contribute as got to know her very well in the years I had her - I will also pass your details onto the new owner who is in the process of updating her if you wish.

Which Seastream is yours?

Good of you to reply Nigel, I hear that Django is in Carrickfergus which is thirty miles away from here - if so I could call over sometime if you would be good enough to put me in touch with here new owner. I have now almost fully restored Pavane with just the final touches that need attention. New engine, re-built steering, re-wiring etc along with some modifications to her interior. I had the delights of a full season aboard last year but sadly an unexpected serious illness has overtaken my wife and it looks as though I'll be in home waters this season instead of a high latitudes voyage I had planned. Regards. Brian

I just purchased a 34 Seastream ketch here in Tampa Bay, Florida. Going to start refit and renovations this summer and would love to hear from other owners and their experiences.

Just a reminder to anyone reading this thread. If you have a Seastream and haven’t made yourself know to me, please do. It’s important that we keep an up to date registry of all remaining Seastreams in use.

Thanks!
