Season\'s starting :)

As usual I am the Forum's ray of sunshine. I have started to bring the season on early by booking my tub in for anti-foul and other necessaries. I have also arranged to have my saloon refurbished to get rid of last year's stains and started piling up all my new goodies ready to take aboard. I hereby and formally declare an early start, this year the season will start on 1st March.

Re: Season\'s starting :)

Well, the start of the season is always March 1st for us but I agree with your sentiments. I am itching to get down to my boat in a couple of weeks and get it kitted out again ready for the off.

Tinkering with the boat is nearly as good as using it. Oh.. and I've just invested in a dry suit. Longer seasons here we come.

You dont need counselling you need to get out on someone elses boat, im sure you can hitch a ride with one of us.

Can't afford Wig & Pen prices especially as the grub is crap, which is just as well as the helpings are too small, the plonk is over priced and the service is rubbish. Other than that I would have enjoyed myself.

Re: but apart from that

ah but with the policemen outside we could have all grassed you up to the policemen outside, and had a proper "fitting-up dinner"... groan.

Suggestions for next year then?

Re: but apart from that

Yes there was a quite amusing incident with the police. When we turned up, about 40 minutes late due to Fleet St being closed 'cos of bomb scare and taxi getting stuck etc, the Wig 'n Pen was actually inside the police barricade area. I epxlianed to Mr Plod that we had dinner booked at the W&P and that "loads of friends" were waiting for us and he said, "yes, well your late, the others have been here for half an hour". As he let us through the barrier, I offered to send him out a pint but he politely declined

Aren't our ploicemen wunnerful.

Oh and Byron all you say about the place may be true, but the craic was great as my Irish friends would say.

Re: :¬( It\'s depressing....

Quite right, although maybe a little to early for me to start grovelling. In the mean time, if anyone needs some crew or company (I've done Day Skipper, Yachtmaster theory, few hundred hours at sea when I had my boat, etc, etc) then I'm usually available!

Byron - The season starts this weekend. I'm loose at sea and around Chichester doing my PowerBoat training with Tom Gregory. Stay clear all of you as the power steeering still is not fully sorted....
