Season\'s Destinations
Back during the cold winter days Morgana posted asking for folks East Coast Destinations for the coming season.
One of my destination 'firsts' was to sail to the Medway and up the Thames.
Set off on Sat 7th in a friend's boat from Marconi SC for a damp sail to Harty Ferry. When we got there we were so cold we couldn't be bothered to go ashore for a beer!
Sun was back out into the Thames Estuary and round into the Medway (tides not right to go the inland way) and to Upnor to meet up with 2 other boats from East Coast Branch RNSA and the Medway Branch for a sunny lunchtime BBQ.

In the evening we went into Chatham Marina and found the lock staff very friendly and facilities excellent. I didn't see the cost of the berth! Monday we spent the day in Chatham Dockyard. Could have spent 2 or 3 days there it was fascinating. Must try and go back later this year. Had a go at making rope in the quarter of a mile long rope walk. [image]

[/image] Spent Weds and Thurs sight seeing including a guided tour of HMS Belfast as some of our members were 'Belfast Boys' [image]
[/image] and Thurs evening went to a concert in St Martins in the fields to add a bit of culture! Stopping at Limehouse was great - so much friendlier and less open to tourists than St Kats and only £17 per boat per night!
Friday was back down to Queenborough although we did take a look at Tower Bridge first to find it being opened up! [image]

Queenborough was a bit of an anticlimax after a hectic week but we found a decent supper at a small restaurant at the top of the town "Nic's".
Would definately go to London by boat again and stay in Limehouse. When we locked out on Friday morning we could hear the St Kats lock out in the VHF - it sounded chaotic!
PS My other prediction in the original post was correct - I only got to Calais and not down the coast to Fecamp. So why can I not pick the right lottery numbers!
