Ok, actually we had some pretty poor weather last week, at least by October standards of 39N latitude.
If nothing else, that was good for some unusual landscapes...

...but since yesterday, ordinary service was restored - hence the thread title.
Good for enjoying inflatable toys, among other things. :D
Can anyone spot the boat of which the Golden Swan is a crew member?
And maybe also the place where it is portrayed while enjoying a swim in still warmish (23C) waters?

P

I know both......but wont spoil it for others.

Please send my best to the owners of the boat in the pic.

Well, I knew that the spot the boat bit would have been unveiled easily. BA indeed she is. :encouragement:

I'm half surprised to read that Pinnacle already recognized the place though, even if the caves in the background are somewhat peculiar.
Here's another couple of views, for anyone who would fancy trying to get the virtual cigar, before asking P to blow his cover...
They show the Eastern and Western sides of the bay respectively.
Which implies that it's facing the open sea on the N, just as an additional suggestion...

How I knew it was BA instantly.... the stainless steel pole mounts in the fixed bathing platform... what a genius idea which made SCUBA diving a total dream while on-board.

I'll never forget that week!

P.

also on 39N (you're at 39.15, I'm at 39.3 :D), weather is rather unsettled, had the first rain of the autumn yesterday...
planning a w/e trip to say goodbye to the summer (and test the fins...) we'll see if weather plays ball.
The bad thing with living 400metres from the place boat is moored, is that unless the weather is perfect you cannot be bothered so you end up doing other things instead (like walking in the mountain and collecting mushrooms as we did yesterday)

what's the water temp like now?

cheers

V.

Even though I fancy a virtual cigar I will resist;)

Well, it was 23 deg yesterday in the above spot, but since this morning we are having some cold mistral, predicted also for tomorrow.
And usually, after a few days of Mistral, at this point of the season the water gets colder relatively fast, even when the sun keeps shining.
So, I would expect at least a couple of degrees less, in a few days... :(

I'm not surprised that it rang a bell also to you! :D
Unfortunately, after the drone that I bought last winter in the US quietly sank in a Croatian bay, we couldn't take any aerial views.
But the spot is exactly the same where we anchored a few years ago with Scubaman and a few other friends.
And luckily, his DJI Phantom was much better than my toy drone - not to mention his better skills in handling it.
Which allows me to add the following landscape.
Just replace my old lady with BA, and make her point towards the open sea rather than towards the coast, due to the breeze that we had yesterday.
The rest of the scenario is pretty much the same! :encouragement:

Why should a season end and who determines these seasons? in many cases leisure activities last all year as most boats, caravans, and motorhomes have heating fitted and caravans and motorhomes are used all year round.

Does Bart know you posted a picture of his golden swan :D

Not sure how long the swan would stay tethered to the boat if the wind got up, the noose around the neck doesn't look like it would hold the tapered shaped head. I know, I shouldn't be noticing things like that with that beautiful scenery :)

I can testify that the swan was in good use, and that all of us had a good swim, not all voluntary though ;-)
perhaps MapisM can post proove of that, and more pics from the nice day out we had.

While unicrons where THE thing last summer, imo the GOLDEN swan suits BA much better,
we were really succesfull with that all summer

I'm afraid I didn't take many others, B.
I thought that our better halves wouldn't have wanted to see on the web any pics of them while jumping naked in the water after the hangover... :p

This seems like a good time to remind everyone how nice this spot is. Vid courtesy of Scubaman of this parish

Yes indeed P, a sensational location, we really enjoyed our experience inside the caves.

I'm pretty sure, from what MM said previously, Bart was anchored in a north facing bay, and the Mezzaluna caves are on the south end of the island.

All correct C, and the name of the bay is Cala Vinagra (just click on the link for the exact Google Maps position).

Coming to think of it, even if we visited it with several forumites like Deleted User, pinnacle, scubaman, hurricane and myag, I don't think we ever anchored there during your stay, due to northern wind blowing. IIRC, also jrudge didn't see that spot, during his short stay in CF.
Oh, well. Good that you still have some places to discover for next time.
And at least, yourself and A had a chance to swim in the Mezzaluna caves, which are probably the most spectacular spot for snorkeling! :encouragement:

An amazing experience really, jumping off the back of your drifting boat, while you held station in the bay and swimming into sea caves I'd never been in before. A bit daunting to start with not knowing what to expect, but the wow factor was incredible, looking forward to a return trip for a longer look around.

Speaking of which, we are locking in travelling dates for next summer this weekend, hopefully we can coincide some CF time with yourselves and Bart.
