Just in case someone is checking out the torch tests in the March 2008 edition with a view to purchase Lidl have a bargain of the moment in my opinion.
I have simple big torch that needed a pair of lantern batteries for at least £9. Lidl have a big Osram torch at £10 that seems good value.
It weighs in at 1.3 Kg and has a 4.5 Amp hour 6 volt battery. It has mains or 12volt charging and has a battery condition indicator light system. I don't know the wattage of the halogen bulb but it seems 'adequate'. The killer application is a cold cathode lamp on the side which I would guess would run for days and make useful back up lighting or something for working in a dark corner.
I don't reckon it is waterproof but Lidl stuff has always been good value in the past. I promise you are not wasting a tenner if you could use another big torch.
